Chemically, FFKMs are fully fluorinated carbon-fluorine backbone polymers, similar in composition to PTFE, but with crosslinkable sites that impart elastomeric flexibility. This unique structure provides extreme resistance to virtually all chemicals, solvents, and oxidizers, while maintaining elastic sealing properties up to 600 °F (315 °C).
